There’s a thread on the English Amiga Board about Amiga confessions, and a recurring theme is spending more time on configuring colors, fonts and icons than anything. “Let’s try a gray-ish color scheme with a blue tint! Wait, what about… a ring with a crosshair as the mouse pointer? Better hand-pixel my own Sci-Fi font!” As others have noted in the thread: Glad I’m not alone with this! :)

Last year I was searching for childhood photos for a presentation, and this is the first one of me using a computer I could find. Of course I’m redesigning the mouse pointer!

Das ist ja praktisch: S/U-Bahn-Stationen und Hauptbahnhöfe in 3D, insbesondere von allen Stationen, in denen ich mich zuverlässig jedes Mal verlaufe.

Falsch abbiegen werde ich weiterhin, wenn ich innerhalb von fünf Minuten zum ersten Mal von der S31 in die U-3000 wechseln muss, aber so fühle ich mich gleich weniger schlecht.

I finally built myself a busy light!

It’s USB-powered and the circuit design was quite easy, even for me (I’m not a hardware guy). Only one LED, and it’s always on! :)

Granted, they’re concerned with spelling, not with pixel art. But when you put up a display of 19×12=228 single book covers – wouldn’t it be worthwhile to spend some time arranging all those books a bit less… wonky-looking? Centered, at least? :)

Ages ago, I was halfway into writing a blog frontend to be called “wpned”, with the idea to use the comfortable Wordpress backend for editing but to serve everything with a home-made frontend that avoids the countless security vulnerabilities of the Wordpress code. Hence the title, which is a play on “Wordpress” and “pwned”. I found that very clever back then…

The idea of my own frontend code remained, but there is no database behind it, only static files and some PHP glue. Oh, and a custom editing and sync tool as a standalone Java Swing application, cause I’m oldschool like that! :)

Ich sage „Ja“ zum Glitch, auch beim Webdesign! Glitch-Tool der Wahl: Dicke Finger und versehentlich 80 rem statt 80% als Schriftgröße angeben.

Ich werde direkt sentimental, wenn ich an die Zeit denke, als man mit Angabe einer riesigen Schriftgröße noch den X-Server zum Absturz bringen konnte – selbst wenn man 512 MB RAM hatte!
